I am going to put 4.10 gears into my old turd Bronco this year. I already have a mini- spool for the rear. I am not gonna spend the money for a front locker though- I am just way too cheap. So what should I do? Run open gears in front or should I weld them?

that is the Question. Well i can say if you weld them do it good and right i welded the 44 in the old balzer and i crumbled the welds to nothing but the gears and pin were still intact i welded the spider gears to the spider gears only. next time i'm gonna say screw saving the carrier and weld the side gears to the carrier and make it one solid block of metal!! other than that do it it's cheap and yopu don't have to worry about one wheel doubling speed if the front gets in the air so when you land it doesn't break. but then again i'm not the quickest to let off when i'm air borne

Without a ram assist, I would suggest not welding it if you like to turn. Trust me on that!
