carb questions

Im looking into changing out carbs. Im not happy with the stock q-jet and thinking of edlebrock. How much difference is there between a 600 and 650 cfm? Should I spend the extra money for the thunder series or stick with the performer which is $100 less. See everyone at Big Al's this weekend.

The "new" 454 from a bunch of parts from about 5 or 6 different motors is ready to go into the Stepside.

The 454 4-bolt main block came from an '84 Suburban that I seized the lower end in.

The forged steel crank came from a 454 in a '73 C20 camper special truck.

The 771 casting semi-closed chamber heads came from the 1974 Pacesetter 25ft motorhome (the one I bought in Oregon with no back body on and we had 44" tires on the back of for a while).

The Holey intake ...

Mopar question

OK I am finally getting around to installing the tranny I got from Buddy Lee. Came up on one snag... the bolt pattern on the torque converter is different than my old torque converter.

I have already asked some questions and found out that a 318 is internally balanced and a 360 is externally balanced. Both torque converters have about the same amount of weights on them in similar locations so I believe that both are from 360's.

So the question is this... should I run my old torque ...

When I left Cory's house last night, I noticed the Brown Trout was running rough, but only stopped in gear (ran normal in Park and Neutral). As I was pulling up to Shucks to get some oil and a filter, It had sounded like an exhaust leak. Kind of a "puff puff puff" coming from underneath. When I got home, I crawled underneath, and it sounded like it was coming from between the cat and muffler. I was thinking "Great, clogged up the cat and now I need a new exhaust."

Well, ...

300 six- selling it makes it run better

So a guy comes by tonight to look at my 300 six. He pulls one spark plug wire at a time and gets to #6 and the RPM's don't change.

I pulled that sparkplug and for some reason the prong was bent. I re-gapped it and suddenly the motor has more power than ever. Hmmm..... wonder how many races I could have won had I pulled that plug and noticed it sooner?

Still waiting to hear back on whether the sale is a go or a no go. Once I sell the motor I am putting in a H.O. 351Windsor that really ...
